Dimitar Berbatov believes Anthony Martial can become one of the best strikers in the world at Manchester United, if he's given the chance to perform consistently.
The former United and Spurs forward has told the Frenchman to remain at Old Trafford and show the right attitude and "spirit" this season, with boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer set to give Martial game-time as a central striker.
Martial has blown hot and cold for United in the past few seasons. His best campaign was his debut season after signing from AS Monaco, when Martial scored 17 goals in all competitions and silenced the doubters who'd questioned his £36million (rising to £50million) transfer fee.
But Betfair Ambassador Berbatov believes the 23-year-old has the talent to thrive under Solskjaer.
"I am slightly biased, but I think Martial can become one of the best, best strikers," he told Express Sport.
"It depends on whether he has the attitude, the fighting spirit, but he is so good I think he can become one of the best."
Berbatov added that Martial needs a run of games to succeed. He's often been in and out of the United side in recent years, but could be set for a prominent role — either as a central striker or on the flank — this coming season.
With potentially leaving the club and Mason Greenwood emerging through the youth ranks, Martial could be one of United's senior forwards.
"He has often played two to three games then out for two to three games," added Berbatov.
"Two to three games on the bench then two to three games back in the team.
"And then United fans ask, why isn't he consistent?
"It depends on him, himself, but Martial has to stay at United. He can be a really great player for them."
