Dimitar Berbatov prediction for Chelsea vs Man Utd ahead of showdown

Chelsea and Man Utd have been handed a tough return to Premier League action following the winter break with a blockbuster showdown on Monday.

United are hot on the heels of Chelsea in fourth as they chase down qualification for a Champions League spot.

Frank Lampard's Blues have struggled recently to string together a decent run of form, while United have been similarly inconsistent.

Former Bulgarian international Dimitar Berbatov knows all too well about the intensity of this fixture, having appeared in several during his four-year spell with the Red Devils.

And he feels there will be little to choose between the sides in Monday's clash at Stamford Bridge.

"This is a massive game in the race for top four," Berbatov told Metro . "If United want to be seriously challenging for a top four spot then need to get something on Monday.

"I honestly think that both teams are pretty even at the moment and both need to do better and become more consistent."

Berbatov then added that he thinks the two teams will play out a 1-1 draw, which would see Chelsea maintain their six-point gap over Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men.

United's pursuit of the top four has seemingly taken on further importance, following yet more comments from Mino Raiola , who has once again teased a move away from Old Trafford for Paul Pogba, should the club not qualify for next season's Champions League.

Club chiefs are said to be angered by Raiola's meddling, after the super-agent specifically suggested his client would welcome a return to his former employers Juventus .

Raiola said: “He [Pogba] never lost his smile, but clearly a great player doesn’t go to Manchester United only to not challenge for the Champions League or the Premier League title.

"It would be bull for me not to admit Paul wants to stay at the highest level.

"But Pogba will first and foremost try to give his best and then we’ll see at the end of the season if he ought to remain or not."
