Former Tottenham star Dimitar Berbatov has issued a somewhat worrying Manchester United related verdict on Jose Mourinho's impact at his old club.
Mourinho took over from Mauricio Pochettino last November and proceeded to help the club mount a top-four challenge.
But a 2-1 defeat at Chelsea saw the gap between themselves and fourth place grow to four points last weekend.
Berbatov is worried that the honeymoon period is over for Mourinho, much in the same way that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer enjoyed a great start at United last season before they ended sixth in the Premier League.
"Spurs' difficulties under Jose Mourinho remind me of United under Solskjaer last season - a strong start before results tailed off," Berbatov told Betfair.
"I haven't lost faith in the Portuguese and we must remember that Spurs have had terrible luck with injuries to Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min, so I'm still backing Mourinho to succeed at Spurs in the end.
"Spurs players are feeling the pressure. Their fans have got used to qualifying for the Champions League and, although the race to finish fourth in the Premier League is still wide open, the players known this season will be considered a failure if they don't make it."
If Manchester City's Champions League ban is upheld then fifth spot is available for Champions League qualification, with Spurs currently one point off of that position.
Next up for Tottenham is a clash at home to Wolves on Sunday in the Premier League.
