Dimitar Berbatov gives brutal verdict on Manchester United manager Solskjaer

Former Manchester United forward Dimitar Berbatov believes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remaining in his job until the end of the season would be a success for the United manager.

United currently sit fifth in the Premier League table, five points behind Chelsea in the fourth, but their inconsistent performances have led to criticism from some supporters.

The Reds face an uphill battle to reach the Carabao Cup final after losing to rivals Manchester City in the first leg and travel to top-flight leaders Liverpool at the weekend.

With every under-par United showing being fiercely scrutinised, Berbatov believes Solskjaer should consider keeping his job until the end of the season as a success.

"As harsh and difficult as it sounds, in the position where he's attacked from every side based on performances, a success will be him being in charge until the end of the season and getting Manchester [United] as high as possible in the table," he told beIN SPORTS.

"It's going to be difficult because after every loss, 'you need to change the player, change the manager, bring in a new one' and this isn't good for the current manager.

"Sometimes people react under influences when you read the papers and you have people talking to you saying you need to change the manager and you make the wrong decision.

"For me, I would like to see him work and live in peace as much as possible."
