Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Dimitar Berbatov has admitted he would have liked to play under Jose Mourinho during his career, but also explained why it would be difficult.
Berbatov, who played for Spurs from 2006 until 2008 where he then signed for Manchester United, has been talking about Mourinho's style of play.
The Tottenham boss is notorious for his defensive tactics, but throughout his career, it's proved to be a highly effective way to achieve success.
Mourinho has won an outstanding 25 major honours over his glistening career - spread across five different European clubs - but is yet to get off the mark for Spurs.
However, he has a chance to amend that in late-April, when the north London-based club meet Manchester City in the re-arranged Carabao Cup final.
Despite his undeniable success as manager, Mourinho still receives criticism for his defensive style of play, something Berbatov touched on.
The former Spurs and United forward, speaking to talkSPORT, admitted that he would have liked to play under the Portuguese coach, but did say he could have had difficulties.
"I would’ve like to have played under Jose Mourinho because I’m curious to see how I’d fit in," the now-retired striker said.
"Of course, if I have a difficulty or a problem I’ll speak with the boss to see what the problem is and try to resolve it.
"In the end, if it isn’t working out you’re looking for another position somewhere else.
Berbatov added: "Could I play under Jurgen Klopp? Or Jose Mourinho with a defensive style of football? I’d probably have a difficult time playing under these managers.
"Jurgen Klopp tries to press all the time with his forward players and I wasn’t like that.
"Jose Mourinho sides try to defend behind the ball and it’s frustrating for attackers to defend behind the ball all the time – running, chasing for the ball… in my opinion, this is not the job of the striker.
"The striker wants to express himself; the striker wants to go forward, try to attack as much as possible, save his strength for when the moment is right to attack in the space.
"But unfortunately football is sometimes not like this. Sometimes you need to swallow your ego and defend in the name of the team because in sport you need to sacrifice things from time to time."
Spurs are next in action on Sunday afternoon, as they make the trip up to rock-bottom Sheffield United - who picked up their first win of the season on Tuesday evening.
