Dillian Whyte has stated he expects to be able to bypass Otto Wallin in order to be Tyson Fury's next opponent.
The London fighter was due to face Wallin this weekend but pulled out of the fight due to a shoulder injury - and believes he won't have to reschedule the fight.
Instead, he believes that the WBC will order Fury to defend his heavyweight title against his fellow Brit - which could be the biggest British heavyweight fight since Lennox Lewis vs Frank Bruno.
Whyte is keen for a fight against Fury to take place in the UK rather than Las Vegas, where Fury's recent bouts have been held.
“Fury’s got the world title and that’s what I’ve been waiting for. That’s what I’ve worked for," he told TalkSport.
"I don’t even know how much sanctioning fees I’ve paid. I could’ve easily abandoned this route and gone down another route years ago, but I’ve waited and I’ve waited and I’ve waited.
“So what am I going to do? Fight Otto Wallin or fight Tyson Fury, what are you gonna do? It’s common sense. Like I said, I’m not scared of no-one. I wanted to fight.
“I think they’re going to mandate me vs Tyson Fury. They’ve basically said it already. It’s already been mandated really, so we don’t need to wait - I want it to be in the UK man, that’s a UK fight.
“Vegas is great, I’d love to go to Vegas and fight, but that’s a British fight. That’s the biggest all-British heavyweight title fight since Lennox Lewis vs Frank Bruno.”
Fury is looking for a unification bout next year but plans to face Anthony Joshua were scuppered after his defeat to Oleksandr Usyk, with a rematch now set.
