Dillian Whyte drugs test: 'Absolutely broken' heavyweight saw panel before fight over alleged failed drugs test

Dillian Whyte is “absolutely broken” after a report accused the British heavyweight of failing a drugs test just days before his win over Oscar Rivas.

The Body Snatcher emerged victorious over the Colombian to secure the mandatory status with the WBC to eventually face champion Deontay Wilder.

But a Boxing Scene report published after the contest alleges Whyte’s ‘A’ sample from a UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) test taken three days before the fight on July 17 was returned positive for a banned substance. The results of Whyte’s ‘B’ sample are yet to be revealed with the fighter set to release a statement on Friday.

And promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed the heavyweight is “absolutely broken” but did liaise with the authorities in the hours leading up to the card before being cleared to fight by an independent panel.

“Before this bout this situation was dealt with. Dillian Whyte was cleared by that panel to take part in this fight,” Hearn told iFL TV.

“That is really important because people think this news came in and was brushed under the carpet and no-one knew about it. No. A process was adhered to. A hearing was had. He was confirmed and cleared to take part in this fight.

“Knowing what I know, I do not believe there is an issue with Dillian Whyte in this situation.

Whyte is set to release a statement on Friday (PA)

“Time will tell and that time should be able to give us the judgement.

“Give Dillian Whyte his time to address the situation, make his statement. Wait for the facts and make a judgement.”
