Digital Rights Management for the (American) masses

Over at ZDNet, Declan McCullagh takes a look at US government attempts to clamp down on piracy and get digital rights management features built into everything. Since America runs the content business, Europe will obviously get hit by the fall-out. Whether they will care in China and Taiwan remains to be seen.... Meanwhile AP has reported on the proposed Berman legislation that would allow copyright owners to stop violations on file-sharing networks, including hacking users' computers and knocking them offline, as long as they clear it with the Justice Department first.
