Digital agency Drummond Central raises £50,000 for charity in memory of missed colleague

A digital agency in Newcastle has raised more than £50,000 for a medical charity after one of their colleagues died tragically young.

Drummond Central has raised the money for the Sepsis Trust after the death of Jessica McEnroe in 2017, the day before her 27th birthday.

Staff at the agency, which has just over 50 employees, raised the money with the help of families and corporate partners through a range of activities that included golf days, bake-offs, half-marathons, ultra-marathons and Tough Mudders.

A donation from the company to match workers’ fundraising took the total raised to £53,000.

Dan Appleby, managing director of Drummond Central said, “Two years ago, everyone at Drummond Central was blissfully ignorant about Sepsis, how serious it is, and how many people it affects.

“What’s worse is that Sepsis is entirely preventable if caught early enough. We hope that what we’ve done so far will help Sepsis UK raise awareness so that people don’t have to go through what we did when we lost Jess.

“We know she’d be proud of what we’ve achieved and we’re not finished yet, not by any stretch.”

Drummond Central, which was established in 2004, is an award-winning creative and digital marketing agency best known for its Drummond Puddle Watch, which made worldwide headlines in 2006.

The firm works for companies that include bet365, Money Guru, Atom bank, and Northumbria University, while it has also shown its community commitment in helping to save Ouseburn Farm from closure in 2017.
