'Different gravy' - Man United loanee James Garner wows fans in latest Nottingham Forest display

Loanee James Garner's recent displays for Nottingham Forest have gone down well with fans as the Manchester United midfielder rediscovers his best form.

It's his second spell at the City Ground, after impressing in the backend of the last campaign, and has taken Garner time to spark the excitement amongst the Forest faithful. Earlier in December, he scored one and assisted another in a 2-0 win over Peterbrough.

However, in recent weeks he has done just that. His performance in the weekend win over Hull City, his 19th of the season, has led to rave reviews from fans as Forest made it three wins on the bounce and eight unbeaten.

Cooper has helped establish a playoff push for Forest after taking over from Chris Hughton earlier in the season.

The win over Hull moved them to within a point of Stoke City as the triumph stretched their unbeaten run to nine.

"At this moment in time he's doing really, really well. He's been a little bit in and out of the team and we've had some good, honest conversations," the former Swansea boss said, earlier this month.

"I have a good relationship with Jim and his family anyway, because of our time together with England. These loans can be really important for young players from Premier League clubs. We hope this one is. They can be up and down - I wouldn't say he had a down, but he was fighting to get in the team.

"For me, in the last three games he's been excellent.

"He came on against Reading and was really, really good. He started against Luton Town and West Brom and his performances were of a high level.

"Second half on Saturday, particularly, he carried on, so he's in a good moment. But he's got to stay really focused and aim to play even better next week."

United fans will be hoping he can continue his form into the new year and showcase his qualities when Forest host Arsenal in the FA Cup third round.
