Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has delivered his verdict on Thomas Partey's move to Arsenal.
The Gunners confirmed the signing of the Ghana international on transfer deadline day after activating the £45million release clause having pursued him throughout the summer.
However, the timing of the deal is said to have angered the La Liga outfit.
According to ESPN, despite being 'resigned' to the midfielder's exit, they weren't told about the move until 11.28 PM Spanish time, just 32 minutes before the midnight deadline.
In addition, the report states that Atletico claim the delay took away crucial time they could have used to find a replacement for Partey in the dying moments of the window.
With that said, there is no ill-feeling between Simeone and the player.
In fact, whilst Simeone has all but admitted that release clauses are somewhat of a problem, he has wished Partey well in north London.
"In these situations of the clauses we cannot give many opinions," Simeone admitted, as per the Metro. "They are decisions that are made based on that possibility that exists.
"As for Thomas, everything that happens to the guys who have given me a lot makes me happy.
"I remember the games we saw him with the B team and when he started to come through.
"He went to Almeria, it was difficult for him to find a stable place but he is an extraordinary player.
"He will do well and we wish him the best.
"We love him very much."
Partey is in line to make his Gunners debut against Manchester City on Saturday evening.
"Let’s see, he needs to put a training session today (Thursday) and see how he goes in the next 48 hours," manager Mikel Arteta said when asked if the new £45m man would feature at the Etihad Stadium.
"Then we will make a decision on whether he plays or not."
