Diego Llorente's Leeds United squad number revealed after Spain international completes transfer

Leeds United's busy summer of recruitment has continued with the club confirming the transfer of Spain international defender Diego Llorente from Real Sociedad.

The 27-year-old has joined for an undisclosed fee, believed to be in the region of £18million has has signed a four-year deal at Elland Road that will run until 2024.

Llorente gives Marcelo Bielsa another option at the back, following the signing of Germany defender Robin Koch earlier this summer, as the club move to strengthen a defence that has conceded seven goals in their first two Premier League games.

The former Real Madrid man is the second Spanish international to arrive at Elland Road this summer following Rodrigo's transfer from Valencia and the club have also confirmed their newest player's squad number.

Llorente previously wore the number three shirt at Sociedad, but with Barry Douglas already in possession of that number, the Leeds new boy will wear the number 14 shirt.

Eddie Nketiah was Leeds' last number 14 when he was on loan last season, with Samu Saiz wearing it in the 2018-19 season. Eunan O'Kane, Tommaso Bianchi, Aidy White and Jonathan Howson were Leeds' previous 14 before that.

Going further back, the likes of Tomas Brolin and Rod Wallace also sported the number.
