Here is your Leeds United morning digest on Monday, December 7.
Phillips hails Llorente amid return
Kevin Phillips has hailed Leeds defender Diego Llorente as he returned to first-team action in Saturday night's 3-1 defeat to Chelsea.
Llorente replaced the injured Robin Koch early on for the Whites at Stamford Bridge after suffering an injury himself, and Phillips has described it as a "huge boost".
Speaking to Football Insider, the ex-Premier League striker said: “It is amazing how well Leeds have done without him.
“To have another top international come back, as a manager, it is a huge boost. It is like a fresh signing coming into the club."
Owen identifies moment that cost Leeds
Michael Owen believes Ian Poveda's honesty may have cost Leeds in their defeat to Chelsea at the weekend.
Poveda was dribbling inside the Blues' box and Ben Chilwell appeared to catch the Whites winger, who stayed on his feet - and Owen thinks if he had gone down then the visitors would have been awarded a penalty.
"[He is a] very honest player," the ex-Liverpool striker told Premier League Productions. “The manager in the dressing room would be thinking ’I have just watched Mo Salah, I have watched people like Grealish, Danny Welbeck last week. I have watched all these players, Sterling today, they have got half the touch you [Poveda] have got.
“I admire that. I really admire it. He got a big touch. He could have gone down. Probably cost his team a point because that would have made it 2-2 with not that long to go."
Llorente sends message to Bielsa
The aforementioned Llorente has sent a message to Marcelo Bielsa following the injury to Robin Koch, as Joe Donnohue writes.
Llorente replaced Koch early on, following the defender's injury and his performance certainly would've pleased Leeds supporters.
It was a very fast-paced and entertaining game for the Spanish centre-back to come in to and he did extremely well to adapt to the circumstances.
This should give some encourage to Whites fans, who have been waiting for their big-money signing to feature for them in the Premier League.
