Diego Laxalt's permanent Celtic transfer fee 'set' as Milan lay out terms for left-back move

Milan have reportedly slapped a £7.2million price tag on Diego Laxalt 's head as Celtic weigh up a permanent deal.

The Uruguayan joined the Premiership champions on loan in the summer but there was no option or obligation to buy included in the deal.

Laxalt has become a regular fixture in Neil Lennon 's side and that has inevitably led to talk of a permanent deal in the summer.

To make that a reality Celtic will have to negotiate with his parent club and Il Milanista reports that the Italian giants will look for around €8million (£7.2m) to sell.

Milan need to raise money in sales in order to comply with Financial Fair Play but that means not taking a loss on Laxalt.

The left wing-back was signed for a reported €18m on a four-year contract and will have a year left on his deal when he returns to Milanello.

With amortisation that means he must be sold for over €4.5m to avoid going down as a loss on the books, so the reported asking price would allow Milan to record a €3.5m profit.

Celtic's decision is likely to depend on the future of Lennon, who has been a big fan of Laxalt since the 2018 World Cup.

With Rangers 19 points clear at the top of the Premiership and 10 In A Row looking unlikely he may not be in charge for the 2021-22 campaign.
