Diego Laxalt in Celtic transfer link as A.C. Milan left-back 'close' to Parkhead move

Celtic are 'close' to signing A.C. Milan defender Diego Laxalt on loan, according to reports.

The Hoops are keen to bring a new left-back to the club on Deadline Day.

And respected journalist Gianluca di Marzio claims versatile Uruguayan international Laxalt is on the verge of a short-term move to the Premiership champions.

The 27-year-old is an attacking full-back, who can also play as a winger or a central midfielder.

Neil Lennon admitted Celtic want to make one or two more signings before Monday night's deadline, but refused to reveal any names the club are targeting as he dismissed a move for West Ham's Robert Snodgrass.

He told Sky Sports after their dramatic 2-0 win over St Johnstone: "You can throw names at me all you like, you're not going to get a straight answer.

"I think either way, obviously we want to keep everybody but we do want to get a couple of players in if we can.

"I'm sure I'll be with Peter (Lawwell) tomorrow, and Nick Hammond, and we'll see things.

"You saw the squad today, it's strong, and with the Europa League we've got all that to look forward to as well.

"If we could just add one more that would be great."
