Diego Laxalt 'closing in' on Celtic move as AC Milan star set to end left-back hunt

Milan full-back Diego Laxalt is believed to be close to sealing a deadline day loan move to Celtic.

The Premiership champions are in the market for a left-back following Boli Bolingoli's departure, with Greg Taylor the only natural in that position.

Manager Neil Lennon has confirmed he wants to bring in at least one player on deadline day and Alfie Doughty of Charlton has been heavily linked.

According to Sky Italia's transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio though a deal is on the verge of completion for Laxalt.

The Uruguayan is set to seal a loan move to Celtic Park as he looks for first team football, with MilanNews speaking to his agent and confirming a medical has been scheduled in London.

The 27-year-old impressed at left wing-back for Gian Piero Gasperini's Genoa side, so would slot comfortably into Lennon's 3-5-2.

His form earned a move to Milan in 2018 but after just 20 Serie A appearances in his first campaign the defender was sent on loan to Torino.

The Granata opted not to take up their option to buy this summer and Laxalt hasn't made a competitive appearance this season after being given a total of just 63 minutes in pre-season friendlies against Monza and Vicenza Virtus.

The Milan man has over 100 Serie A appearances under his belt and has been capped 24 times by Uruguay.
