Diego Ferreira pulled from UFC 237 bout with Francisco Trinaldo due to medical issues

RIO DE JANEIRO – Brazilian lightweight Diego Ferreira was pulled from a planned matchup with Francisco Trinaldo during today’s UFC 237 official weigh-in ceremony.

Officials from the Brazilian athletic commission (CABMMA) determined Ferreira was medically unfit to compete and ruled him out of the contest, a representative told MMA Junkie.

According to MMAFighting.com, kidney stones were to blame for the late withdrawal.

Ferreira (15-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC) and Trinaldo (23-6 MMA, 13-5 UFC) were set to meet on the opening bout of the UFC 237 main card, which airs on pay-per-view from Jeunesse Arena. Preliminary bouts stream on ESPN+ and air on ESPN.

With the late scratch, a bout between Irene Aldana (9-4 MMA, 2-2 UFC) and Bethe Correia (10-3-1 MMA, 4-3-1 UFC) has been elevated to the night’s main card. Additionally, a preliminary bout between Warlley Alves (12-3 MMA, 6-3 UFC) and Sergio Moraes (14-4-1 MMA, 8-3-1 UFC) that was originally intended to stream on ESPN+ will now air on ESPN.
