Dido appears on Good Morning Britain 15 years after her last tour

It has been 15 years since she last took her music on the road but multi-million selling vocalist Dido appeared on ITV this morning to promote her first tour since 2004.

Dido shot to worldwide stardom with her 1999 album No Angel and the song Here With Me, which was sampled by Eminem for his song, Stan.

The London-born 47-year-old turned up on the Good Morning Britain sofa to explain her lengthy absence from gigging and to reveal the moment when her phenomenal success finally hit her.

The star, whose full name is Dido Florian Cloud de Bounevialle O'Malley Armstrong, also recently released a new album, titled Still On My Mind - her first since 2013 - while a second single from it (Take You Home) is out on May 24.

Tulisa appears on ITV Lorraine after three years and people are shocked by her appearance

"Time just drifted on," Dido said of her lack of live shows since 2003.

"My third album (Safe Trip Home) was a dark record and I didn't want to tour it, and then I had a baby."

Having been a full time mum to son Stanley - now seven - Dido added that she's also been busy writing and recording albums, despite the fact fans have been denied the chance to see her in the flesh.

She also admitted that her massive international success, which was cemented when rap superstar Eminem sampled her music for his global 2000 hit, never actually dawned on her until she came off the road.

"I was in that touring bubble for years and I never realised until I got back that it dawned on me," she said.

"I went on the Anger Management tour with Eminem, Limp Bizkit and Papa Roach, which was an unlikely collaboration, but they treated me great - like a princess.

"But I'll never forget turning up on my dad's doorstep and finding out a tune of mine had just been played on Match of the Day - that was the moment I'd made it in his eyes."

Dido added that she wasn't at all nervous about returning to touring after such a long time away,

"More excited than nervous, really," she said.

"It's quite liberating after all these years because there's no reason for me doing it other than to have an amazing time."

Dido's tour kicks off in Glasgow at the end of May.
