An 85-year-old movie theater employee in Tennessee has received nearly $150,000 (around ₹1.2 crore) in donations after a woman who did not even know her name launched a fundraiser on her behalf. Moved by seeing Mary Ellen Eron working a physically demanding shift at a theater, Brooklyn Green filmed a video that went viral, inspiring thousands of strangers to help Eron enjoy retirement, reports The New York Post.
The fundraiser collected $146,317 from more than 7,500 donors, turning a chance encounter between two strangers into an extraordinary display of generosity.

What makes the story even more remarkable is that Green did not know Eron personally. Speaking about the moment, Green explained that she was inspired by the elderly worker's dedication.
“I knew nothing about her. I didn’t even know her name when I went to the theater,” Green said.
