Didier Deschamps has played down the injury suffered by N'Golo Kante.
The midfielder was left out of the matchday squad for France's Euro 2020 qualifier against Iceland on Friday evening, a game which they won 1-0.
Kante was expected to take part in the fixture but was deemed to be not fit enough after breaking down in training ahead of the fixture.
Speaking after the game, Deschamps said: "He felt a pain in the adductor [groin] muscle.
"He had a feeling where he did not feel comfortable to play.
"I made the decision [to pull him from the squad], because maybe it could get even worse. I knew Moussa would be ready."
Deschamps added: "I do not think it’s too serious for NG [Kante], but I do not have an answer tonight."
The news of another potential injury blow will not go down well at Stamford Bridge.
After an injury-hit start to the campaign Frank Lampard has emphasised the need to carefully manage the player to ensure that he is being eased back to fitness, something which Deschamps made light of when discussing the midfielder.
He said: "Lampard had asked me not to pick Kante at the last break.
"If that's still the way I'm going to call him later to tell him it would be nice if you play Olivier Giroud a little bit!"
But while the France head coach has played down the worry, I'm sure Frank Lampard and the Chelsea fans will be praying that the latest injury setback is not a bad one for N'Golo Kante.
