Didi Conn gives hopeful update on Olivia Newton John following cancer diagnosis

Grease star Didi Conn gave an update on her long-term friend and former co-star Olivia Newton John, who is currently battling breast cancer, during an appearance on Monday's This Morning.

Last month, 70-year-old screen legend Olivia devastated fans by revealing she .

Olivia was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer and said the chances of curing the condition are very slim.

But despite the bleak outlook, her friend Didi said the actress is remaining hopeful and being helped by her loved ones.

"Best news I heard was that Olivia Newton John is doing beautifully well," said Didi.

"Her spirit shines," she added. "I just love her."

"You've stayed friends?" asked host Phillip Schofield.

"Oh yeah, absolutely," said Didi, who has remained close with Olivia 40 years after the release of movie musical Grease in 1978.

Didi then shared some of the methods Olivia has been using to combat her diagnosis

"Her husband is this miracle maker of growing different herbs and the cannabis is really working for her... for the pain," explained Didi.

"They're so in love and love always heals," she added.

Olivia shared the devastating news that she's battling breast cancer for the third time back in November.

She decided it was better for her mental health if her doctors didn't tell her how long she had left.

Speaking to 60 Minutes earlier last month month, she said: "When you're given a cancer diagnosis or a scary illness diagnosis, you are suddenly given a possibility of a time limit.

"If you believe the statistics, you're going to make them happen. If somebody tells you, 'you have six months to live', very possibly you will - because you believe that."

The shock diagnosis comes five years after her secret second battle with cancer and two decades after she first overcame the disease in 1992.

In January she was forced to deny she was "at death's door" as she recorded a video for fans saying she is "doing great".
