Donald Trump will become the 45th president of the United States, after defying the polls in a nail-biting presidential race. If you voted for the Republican candidate, we’d like you to tell us why.

Despite a record of racist and sexist behaviour, and a lack of political experience Trump swept to an improbable victory. It is clear that despite the series of controversies, his message resonated with a huge number of American voters and revealed deep anti-establishment anger.

It came down to a handful of key swing states – Florida, Ohio, and North Carolina – despite months of polling that favoured democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. The Republicans will now retain the House, the Senate, and will almost certainly be able to select a conservative judge for the supreme court.
