'Did you think I was going to be a chill, normal dude?': Elon Musk set out his future plans in 2021 Saturday Night Live monologue

The world's wealthiest man is getting a lot of attention today as he limbers up to take over the world's biggest social media platform. Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla has struck a deal to purchase Twitter for $43 billion left the world wanting to know more about him.

In 2021 he appeared as guest host on American entertainment show, Saturday Night Live, and while there revealed some personal things about himself in his opening monologue. For anyone unfamiliar with the format of the show, the Saturday Night Live monologue is traditionally where the guest-host stands before the audience at the start and gives themselves a bit of a comedy-roast, making jokes at their own expense and getting the audience on side.

In Elon's monologue he revealed his ambitions for the future saying: "I'm making history tonight as the first person with Asperger's to host SNL." He continued: "So I won't make a lot of eye contact. But don't worry, I'm pretty good at running 'human' in emulation mode." This gag got a big laugh from the audience who warmed to Elon's slightly awkward demeanour. His monologue continued: "I'd like to share with you my vision for the future. I believe in a renewable energy future, and I believe that humanity must become a multi-planetary space faring civilisation, those seem like exciting goals don't they?"

Haha'." The SNL audience let out a big laugh at the randomness of this tweet to which Elon says: "I don't know, I thought it was funny, that's why I wrote 'haha' at the end." More laughter from the audience.

He goes on to say: "To anyone I've offended, I reinvented electric cars and I'm sending people to Mars in a rocket ship. Did you think I was going to be a chill, normal dude?"
