Did you know that Amitabh Bachchan once helped Vikram Gokhale get a home in Mumbai?

Veteran Marathi and Bollywood actor passed away on November 26 after multiple-organ failure at a hospital in Pune. The actor has been hospitalised since November 5.

While the entire industry is mourning his demise, we recall the time when Amitabh Bachchan helped the actor get a home in Mumbai. Yes, you read that right! In an interview with ETimes in 2020, Vikram revealed that Big B had helped him during the lowest phase of his life, when he had no roof over his head in a city like Mumbai.

Recalling the days when he was going through a financial crisis, Gokhale said, "I went through a lot of struggle when I entered this industry." I was going through a huge financial crunch and was looking for shelter in Mumbai. When Amitabh Bachchan came to know about this, he personally wrote a letter to Manohar Joshi, who was the Chief Minister of Maharashtra during 1995-99. And I got a house from the government only because of his recommendation. I still have that letter with me, which I have framed."

He added, "I am so proud that he knows me and I know him. We have been friends for 55 years. I just love his attitude and nature. I still watch his films once a week and have done so for many years."

Vikram Gokhale and Amitabh Bachchan have worked together in films like ‘Agneepath’, ‘Khuda Gawah’, ‘Parwana’ and others.
