TAMPA, Fla. — Tom Brady continues to prove he can throw shade and spirals with equal proficiency.
The Bucs quarterback and seven-time Super Bowl champ had a succinct — and searing — retort to Royals catcher Salvador Perez, who was forced to wear a red No. 12 Brady jersey during batting practice prior to Monday night’s game against the Rays. The attire resulted from a Super Bowl bet Perez lost to Rays outfielder and buddy Brett Phillips.
“(Chiefs quarterback) Patrick Mahomes is the best,” Perez said in a brief video clip tweeted on the Royals’ official handle. The tweet included the caption "Sometimes words speak louder than actions."
To which Brady tweeted back: “Nahhh I think actions always speak louder than words.”
Brady, whose team pummeled the Chiefs, 31-9, in Super Bowl 55 at Raymond James Stadium in February, ended his tweet with a winking-face emoji.
About a half-hour later, Mahomes responded with his own tweet: “I guess we will see in 20 years...”
Though only 25, Mahomes already owns no fewer than seven NFL records, including consecutive 300-yard passing games (eight).
Brady, by contrast, only can boast about three times as many, including career victories as a starter (230) and, of course, Super Bowl titles (seven).
