Did This Tesla Driver Just Straight-Up Murder a Motorcyclist?

This is an ugly story, which you've probably gathered if you spent any time looking at the image up at the top of this piece. And it gets worse when you understand what eyewitnesses and police reported in the aftermath of the incident.

First, the facts. On Monday, June 30, 2025, a Tesla driver slammed into the back of a BMW R 1300 GS on Calfornia's I-805, in Chula Vista, near the Telegraph Canyon Road exit. As you can see from the news footage included in the video below, the crash was clearly violent. The damage to both vehicles is substantial; never mind the fact that the motorcyclist, Jorge Uribe Villalobos, reportedly died on the scene. The car then went on to hit a pickup truck after hitting the BMW; the people inside the pickup truck were later treated for minor injuries, but thankfully survived the encounter.

What about the driver of the Tesla? His name is Ulysses Jiminez, and he's been charged with murder. This news report includes video footage shot by motorist Jenny Kiti, who was caught in traffic directly after the crash.

According to Kiti and her video, Jiminez exited the Tesla shortly after the crash. He was barefoot, and just wandering through traffic with some cash in his pocket, reportedly asking other drivers if he could get a ride with them. When they refused, Kiti said that he got angry and proceeded to flip them off for not helping him out.

Was it an accident, and are we being too hard on the driver? According to NBC 7 San Diego's reporting, the California Highway Patrol charged Jiminez with murder due to statements he made after the crash, indicating that he purposely sped up and rammed into the bike on purpose. The driver and the motorcyclist reportedly did not know each other.

Our thoughts are with the rider's family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time. Even though there's nothing that will bring their loved one back, we hope they are able to obtain some measure of comfort and justice in whatever happens next.

Please, everyone, ride safe out there. Be extra vigilant about aggressive road behavior from others around you, and do your best to avoid it if you can. Yes, even if that means dropping back and letting the assholes go on ahead. It might be a hit to your pride, yes, but better your pride than your life, right?
