A Tesla Cybertruck driver believes he may have captured a ghost on his vehicle’s dashcam. TikTok user @lookimjesus uploaded footage, complete with a spooky audio track to round out their claims.
“I can’t make this up,” he writes in a text overlay of the clip, which shows footage taken from his EV. “There’s no one on this corner,” he says, pointing to one corner of the screen. His post shows two different angles from his car that appear to have been taken at the same exact time.
Indeed, the video recorded from the camera located at the front of his car doesn’t show anyone standing on the sidewalk or the street. However, he then points to the rear, driver’s side angle, where a man missing his left hand and wearing what looks like a high-visibility vest is shown standing right beside his car on the street.
What’s more is that the individual, who the poster argues is a metaphysical entity, was standing and waiting patiently beside his car in the adjacent lane until he turned the corner. The one-handed man grips what looks like a smartphone in his intact right hand as Jesus makes a left turn and drives away. While doing so, the driver's rearview camera shows that the “ghost” is still standing in the street and watches him drive away.
As the clip comes to a close, the one-handed man lifts his phone up before the video ends.
Strange Phenomenon?
Numerous folks who replied to the TikToker’s clip didn’t seem to think he captured a ghost on camera but rather that the Cybertruck’s unconventional design was to blame. “The scariest thing about this is that you have a Cybertruck,” one quipped. Another cracked, “Well are you gonna give him a hand?”
Someone else commented: “Maybe…and hear me out, stop driving a POS rectangle with the largest blind spots on the planet if you don’t know how to be aware of what’s in your blind spots?” Another also seemed to think that the poster didn’t get footage of a ghost but of a pedestrian he nearly collided with. “You almost run him over … in the end he was like WTH man,” they said.
They weren’t the only one who thought the man’s gesture at the end of the clip was clearly indicative of the driver in the video almost hitting him. Someone else penned: “He threw his arms up like to say ‘you ain’t see me here.’”
Another person argued that the lapse in time was more than enough for a person to appear in the Cybertruck’s rear-dashcam. “There is almost a 10 second gap from when the corner is out of site to when he comes into frame on the left camera. Anyone walking slowly from behind that building could appear like he did.”
Tesla Cybertruck Blind Spot Complaints
Folks have shared myriad objections online regarding the Cybertruck’s visibility. This Facebook user said that they were less than satisfied with the image quality of their Tesla truck’s camera lens. Others decried the car’s large A-pillars, like this social media user who contested that the pillars create huge blind spots. They went on to state that the vehicle’s capacious dashboard only makes visibility that much worse, preventing drivers from being able to see what’s directly in front of them while they’re on the road.
The Auto Buyers Guide posted in this April 2024 Facebook entry that the Cybertruck’s A-pillars create a blind spot of “epic” proportions. In their post, the account shared interior photos from the vehicle’s cabin in order to demonstrate that its “raked windshield” and A-pillars reduce road visibility when compared to other trucks.
Tesla Owners SV uploaded a YouTube short titled “Visibility can be an issue in the Cybertruck sometimes.” Recording from the car’s cabin, the social media influencer says, “One of the other things that could’ve been better from a visibility standpoint to be honest is really this A-pillar,” he says, before showing the component off.
So did the TikToker spot a ghost? Or was he just driving a car that’s suffering from road visibility woes?
