Did the Washington Football Team just accidentally leak its new team name?

Tuesday morning, the Washington Football Team announced that finally after two seasons, they would have a new, official team name and logo on February 2, 2022. The announcement came with video, photo teasers of the helmets and jerseys and an update on why the Wolves or Redwolves — both popular options among some members of the fanbase — would not be possible.

The WFT was very careful not to reveal too much, attempting to keep the excitement high for next month’s new rebrand of a team that has struggled with performance both on-and-off the field.

But … is it possible the franchise may have missed on small detail? Fans on Twitter noticed that a certain URL redirected to WFT’s website:

If you take yourself over to WashingtonAdmirals.com, it will then redirect you… TO THE WASHINGTON FOOTBALL TEAM WEBSITE! Now this could be a misdirect or a red herring (or just a coincidence), but could we have the Admirals joining the NFL next season?

Others are speculating (read: examining new trademark requests) that the Groundhogs could be a potential new name.

We’ll have to wait and see, but that won’t stop speculation from flying.
