The show that swept a nation for a season is finally coming to an end. Love Island had more than 3 million viewers this year, double last year’s audience, making it ITV2’s most ever watched show. There have been highs and lows: a charity called out abusive and toxic behaviour on the show; concerns about racism were aired over the incomprehensible pie-ing (that’s Love Island speak for rejection) of Samira Mighty; and viewers exercised their democratic right to complain about producers upsetting Dani Dyer (daughter of the other Danny Dyer) by writing in to Ofcom when boyfriend Jack Fincham was moved into another villa with an ex-partner.
On Monday night at 9pm, viewers will make their final decision on which couple goes home victorious.
