Did Peyton Manning give a hint about doing TV in the future?

Everyone knows that Monday Night Football made a run at Peyton Manning. It was a smart decision. The public’s view of Manning is very favorable. He’s forgotten more football than most people ever knew in the first place. He’s one of the best quarterbacks ever. He’s Peyton Manning. We also know that he turned down the chance at being the color guy for ESPN’s marquee football product. So will Peyton Manning ever do television?

Yes, the caveat that it may never be the right time for Manning to announce football is there, but the “wasn’t the right time” leaves a glimmer of hope. Maybe Manning comes back to television after all of the players he played with and against are out of the NFL. That could be a while. Remember, he only retired in 1996.

Maybe Manning is waiting until Eli is out of the league. Announcing a game with his brother involved could be odd. Maybe Manning is waiting for Tom Brady to call it quits. Or, maybe Manning is waiting for Tony Romo to set the market.

When Manning wants to get involved with television — whether it’s the announcers’ booth or in-studio — he’ll have no shortage of suitors. There’s no reason to rush.
