Did LeBron James shade the Clippers with his Game 1 shoe choice?

LeBron James didn’t say anything about it, but everybody noticed that his choice of footwear in Friday night’s Game 1 win over the Denver Nuggets looked a lot like the colors of the team that was supposed to be playing the Lakers in the Western Conference Finals. After a year of talk about an L.A. vs. L.A. Conference Finals, the Clippers failed to hold up their end of the bargain and the LeBron 7s the King wore in Game 1 looked like a little bit of a shot to the team that didn’t show up.

The “official” colorway of the shoes is inspired by the L.A. Dodgers, but they looked like something Clipper Darrell would wear.

Although the Lakers have approached their season with a focus on themselves, they heard all of the talk all season that the Clippers were the deeper, better team. With the Clippers failing to do their job, they opened the door for LeBron to boast about it, albeit subtlely.
