If you’ve tuned into Married At First Sight (MAFS) 2026 and thought the whole thing looked way too familiar, no, you’re not going mad. Besides the recognisable format, the same trio of experts and similar archetypes of characters participants, the new season has actually recycled a bunch of the same wedding locations.
Because what’s more romantic than getting married in the exact same spot some of the experiment’s most disastrous pairings first met?
Where are the MAFS 2026 weddings filmed?
The first MAFS 2026 wedding got off to a rough start when Alissa told her new groom, David, that she couldn’t marry him unless he got down on one knee and proposed. David refused, resulting in a very awkward standoff as the guests nervously laughed along.
Things got back on track when the couple shared quite an intense first kiss at the altar, and they got to know each other at the reception. However, David’s close friends Jasmine and Melissa remained convinced they wouldn’t work out — and it appears they might have good reason to.
You see, Alissa and David’s wedding venue has some rather cursed MAFS history.
The venue — the Coliseum Theatre in Sydney’s Rooty Hill — was also used for Bronte and Harrison’s infamous wedding in 2023. Fans would remember that the couple’s nuptials were rocked by a massive scandal when Bronte’s wedding guest recognised Harrison as the man one of her friends had been dating just a few weeks earlier.
The couple went on to have one of the most tumultuous relationships in the show’s history, constantly arguing and accusing one another of gaslighting, and eventually called it quits before Final Vows.
Interestingly, Bronte and Harrison’s wedding was also featured in the first episode of the season.
Bronte told PEDESTRIAN.TV following the episode that, while she’s not watching the new season, she doesn’t love the idea of a new MAFS couple getting married at her wedding location.
“That day and that venue are probably cursed by Harrison and me, because that was the most chaotic, disappointing day of my whole life,” she said.
“I just hope that they have a better ending and a better outcome than Harrison and I. I would never wish that experience or that type of marriage onto anybody, especially going in there with the intention of finding somebody who matches you and ending up with the complete opposite.”
Bronte went on to say that it’s taken her three years to “really grasp” her chaotic experience in the experiment, and she hopes the new cast members have a much better time than she did.
“I have PTSD,” she added. “I saw a clip on TikTok last night of my wedding, and my stomach fell into my ass. It doesn’t land right, and it does not land well in my body whenever I see myself on that screen. So as far as I’m concerned, I don’t know who Harrison and Bronte are.”
MAFS’ Rachel and Steven’s wedding location
Alissa and David aren’t the only 2026 participants who got married in familiar territory, with Rachel and Steven also tying the knot in a very recognisable location.
The pair said “I do” on The Jackson, a luxury super yacht on Sydney Harbour that was used in 2023 for Melinda and Layton’s wedding.
Fans would remember that Melinda and Layton didn’t initially get along at their wedding, but put their differences aside and made it all the way to Final Vows. They went on to date for over a year before announcing their split in October 2023.
Meanwhile, a preview for Tuesday night’s episode shows Gia and Scott getting married on the beach in a very similar location to 2024’s Ben and Ellie, whose relationship ended quite early in the experiment.
We’ll have to wait and see where the rest of the 2026 cast tie the knot, but fingers crossed they have a better success rate than the couples that came before them.
