Joe Duffy suffered a disappointing submission loss tonight in his return to the octagon at UFC Fight Island.
The Donegal native tapped after he was caught in a guillotine hold just under three minutes into the first round of their preliminary bout.
In an exciting bout, the pair traded vicious leg kicks and threw plenty of shots before Duffy scored a takedown.
But the Spaniard managed to catch Duffy in the choke as the pair hit the mat, with the Irishman forced to tap a few seconds later.

After recording his third loss in a row, Duffy took to social media to announce his retirement after the bout.

And in the main card opener, Dagestan fighter Askar Askarov pushed himelf into the flyweight title picture in an impressive decision win over no. 4 ranked Alexandre Pantoja.
Georgian light-heavyweight Roman Dolidze moved to 7-0 on his UFC debut, with a brutal kick enough to down Khadis Ibragimov.
In the penultimate fight of the prelims, Grant Dawson put on a show as he scored a unanimous decision win over Englishman Nad Narimani.
