Did Divya Dutta replace Madhuri Dixit in Tahira Kashyap's ‘Sharmaji Ki Beti’?

Madhuri Dixit is believed to have been offered one of the lead roles in Tahira Kashyap's film ‘Sharmaji Ki Beti’ over a year ago. But after some creative differences cropped up between Madhuri and the makers, the two mutually agreed to part ways. A source said, "The script has evolved significantly in the last year and Divya Dutta was brought in by the makers to play the part originally offered to Madhuri."

‘Sharmaji Ki Beti’ is based on the modern Indian experience of a middle-class woman. The film, being produced by Sameer Nair, Tanuj Garg and Atul Kasbekar, stars Sakshi Tanwar, Divya Dutta and Saiyami Kher. It offers a quirky peek into the lives of urban women, all with the common surname, Sharma.

‘Sharmaji Ki Beti’ is Tahira's debut film and in recent interviews she had revealed that the story and characters of the movie are like an extension of her personality. She had said that the characters and situations in the film are inspired from her own experiences and people she has met. The film began shooting last month in Mumbai and Chandigarh. Ayushmann Khurrana had taken to his Insta page and announced the movie last month, as well.
