Did Bill Belichick inquire about Giants job in 2017?

It’s no secret that future Hall of Fame coach Bill Belichick has an affinity for the New York Giants. Over the years, he’s embraced that publicly, even having his eyes well up a time or two when speaking about his time with the organization.

Despite that, Belichick and the Giants have never reconnected, although NBC Sports anchor suggested earlier this week that the came up in 2017 after the New England Patriots had traded quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to the San Francisco 49ers.

Of course, a reunion did not happen. Belichick remained with the Patriots, the Giants fired head coach Ben McAdoo mid-season and let Steve Spagnuolo serve as the interim head coach. They went on to hire Pat Shurmur that offseason.

Currently, Belichick remains in New England and the Giants are now onto a new head coach — ironically, one of Belichick’s understudies, Joe Judge.

Judge might be the closest thing the Giants ever get to Belichick. He has been working under Belichick since 2012 and won the Giants over with his confidence and aura. Now, all he has to do is win games, just like his old boss, and no one will remember that the Giants could have had the genuine article as their coach.
