'Did all our phones just get hacked?' Samsung users wake up to a mysterious 'Find My Mobile' notification

Some Samsung users woke up this morning to a strange notification on their phones.

Those who own the Galaxy model received a mysterious "Find My Mobile" notification from the phone company.

When clicking on the notification, users across the world say it only contained the number one and it disappeared as soon as they tapped on it.

Confused people took to social media to find out what the odd notification meant.

One Twitter user wrote: "What's this notification from find my mobile? Just randomly appeared in the morning. When I tap on it, it just disappeared."

Another Twitter user was worried the notification was from a hacker, trying to gain access to Samsung phones.

He said: "So myself and many other Samsung users have all reported receiving a notification from the 'Find My Mobile' app saying '1'.

"I clicked it and nothing happened. Check app info and it used 20% of my battery? Did all our phones just get hacked?"

A third Twitter user joked: "If you just got woken up by Samsung Find My Mobile saying 1 1 to you then congratulations you will be saved when the Rapture comes."

"Got a mysterious find my mobile notification," another remarked. "Was scared that someone tried to track me but it seems thousands of people got this?"

However, Samsung quickly cleared up the situation saying the notification was accidentally sent during an internal test.

In a tweet, they said: "A notification about 'Find My Mobile 1' occurred on limited number of Galaxy devices.

"This notification was confirmed as a message sent unintentionally during internal test and there is no effect on your device. We apologise for any inconvenience."

It looks like Samsung users can relax, safe in the knowledge that their phones haven't been hacked.

Samsung has been approached for comment about the 'Find My Mobile' notification.
