A viral video claiming that the loco pilot of the Indore-Mhow DEMU passenger train stopped the train to buy samosas from a roadside shop has been dismissed as "false and misleading" by Western Railway.
The clip, widely shared on social media, alleged that the train was halted solely so the crew could purchase snacks. News agency PTI also shared the video, citing a third-party source, and reported that the Railways had ordered an inquiry into the matter.
"A video showing the loco pilot of the Indore-Mhow DEMU train stopping reportedly to buy samosas from a shop beside the tracks has surfaced. Railways has ordered a probe after the video, which allegedly shows the train being halted for samosas, went viral," read the PTI post.
However, Western Railway clarified that the incident did not involve a passenger DEMU train. Instead, it concerned a goods train operated by Concor Green Field Private Terminus, hauled by locomotives numbered 27237 and 27600.
According to the railway zone, the goods train had already been stopped at the Rau Home Signal because of scheduled engineering work in the Rau yard. During this authorised operational halt, the Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) stepped out to buy food.
