Dick Advocaat in TV treatment as Rangers icon set to star in behind the scenes Feyenoord documentary

Former Rangers manager Dick Advocaat is starring in a new football documentary centred round Feyenoord's 2020/21 season.

Airing on Disney Plus, unique footage shows the Dutchman lead his Eredivisie outfit during his final year in football.

The 73-year-old had a long and successful career which included a glittering stint at Ibrox between 1998 and 2001.

In his first season, he won a domestic treble followed by a league and Scottish Cup double the next.

Advocaat also brought the likes of Michael Mols and Ronald de Boer to the club as the boss became a popular figure amongst Gers fans.

Now, the Little General features in a 'Sunderland 'Til I Die' styled documentary based on the Rotterdam club - called 'That One Word: Feyenoord'.

The TV series on The Black Cats started a trend on shows covering football teams after its success on Netflix.

It led to Tottenham Hotspur having a similar show titled 'All Or Nothing' on Amazon Prime which gave a fascinating insight into Jose Mourinho's time at the North London club.

The same title covered a similar series on Manchester City on the streaming service.

But this time it's Disney Plus who are taking a crack at football documentaries and a look inside the dressing rooms in the Netherlands is sure to be an interesting take on the phenomenon.

And never-seen-before footage of Advocaat with his players is being revealed.

The programme's trailer shows the Dutchman yelling at one of his players: "Shut up, calm down. Don't make things crazy", while tension rises in a tough season for Feyenoord, who finished the league fifth last season.

The veteran has also managed the Netherlands national team on three separate occasions, as well as having spells at Zenit St Petersburg, Fenerbahce and Sunderland.

He's enjoyed a long career in both club and international management having also taken charge of Serbia, South Korea, the UAE and Russia.

That One Word: Feyenoord premiered on Wednesday, September 1 with episodes releasing weekly.
