Dick Advocaat faces Rangers nightmare as Feyenoord boss admits being unable to work on tactics

Dick Advocaat admits he has been unable to work on a tactical plan to face Rangers in Thursday's Europa League showdown.

The former Ibrox boss took over at Feyenoord when Jaap Stam was sacked, and takes on his old club in Rotterdam tonight.

Rick Karsdorp, Ridgeciano Haps, Edgar Ie and Sven van Beek are all likely to be missing through injury, and Advocaat's thin squad means he hasn't prepared a specific tactical plan to face Steven Gerrard 's side.

He told Algemeen Dagblad: "I've been working here for four weeks but the players are constantly injured.

"Targeted training is therefore out of the question.

"Fighting spirit, cohesion on the pitch, things like that yes, but the really tactical work hasn't been possible yet.

"In any case we'll soon have people who can help us become stronger.

"Something has to be done (in January), even if I don't want to spell it out."

The match at De Kuip is huge for Rangers, who will go through if they win and Porto don't win away to Young Boys .

However, if Porto lose in Bern then a draw in the Netherlands would be enough to secure qualification.
