The Third Wheel is a very entertaining book for ages 8 -12 and I enjoyed it very much.
It is quite short and I managed to read it in 3 nights but it has a cleverly comic plot!
It's part of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series about a boy called Gregory Heffley and in this particular book his school puts on a Valentine's Day dance. But time is cutting short for Greg to find a date, so he resorts to getting help from his uncle.
Luck strikes as an attractive girl is searching for a date too! This seems all very well, but could the romance get in the way of certain other friendships Greg has?
