Diarmuid Connolly should be back with Dublin this summer - if he performs for St Vincent's, says 'Pillar' Caffrey

Diarmuid Connolly should be back in the Dublin squad this summer if he can come good for St Vincent's in the Dublin SFC this April.

That's according to former Dubs boss Paul Caffrey, who believes the 31-year-old is 'the best player I’ve ever been in a dressing room with'.

Connolly hasn't donned the blue jersey for over a year, and spent last summer in Boston, winning a championship over there with clubmate Shane Carthy.

“Diarmuid Connolly is the best player I’ve ever been in a dressing room with,” 'Pillar' stated on Off The Ball.

“I’d say if he’s fit, able and willing he’ll be back in that dressing room. The first thing we’d like to see is Diarmuid be on the panel and be able to compete to play.

“I do believe it’s down to him and ultimately it will be his decision if he puts his hand up and plays with St Vincent’s in these two championship games. And if he plays well, he’s willing and able I think Jim will have him back.

“Either report back for Dublin for training for the championship panel or else that’s the end of it.”
