Diarmuid Connolly set for Donegal Boston return according to reports

Diarmuid Connolly could re-sign for Donegal Boston after travelling back to the United States this summer.

A report in the Herald claims that the 31-year-old will be travelling this week, which will finally end any speculation of a potential Dublin return this summer.

Connolly was not involved in the four-in-a-row winning squad last year, but fans had been hoping that he may join up for the potentially historic drive for five.

But after not appearing in a minute of League or Leinster SFC action, the St Vincent's man looks to be definitively gone again from Jim Gavin's panel.

Connolly led Donegal Boston to the Boston SFC last summer alongside clubmate Shane Carthy, and he isn't the only All-Ireland winning forward heading across the Atlantic this summer.

Fellow Dublin panelist Colm Basquel is expected to link up with Chicago's Wolfe Tones, while Waterford hurling star Austin Gleeson is reportedly off to New York.

Connolly hasn't made a competitive appearance in a Dublin jersey for 16 months - his last coming off the bench against Mayo in a 2018 League clash.

Jonny Cooper has put the kibosh on any recent rumours of a return to the group before the starting of the Leinster Championship in May, telling Dublin Live : "I haven't seen Diarmuid in a number of months."
