Diane Keaton's colorful crockery storage is a work of art – I've seen hundreds of celebrity kitchens, and hers belongs in a museum

Adding color to the kitchen doesn't just have to be a paint job: accessories have a high impact in the home, and this is particularly true in the culinary space.

Look no further than Diane Keaton's kitchen for proof. While the actor has created a monochromatic homeware line of her own, her shelves feature a range of blue, green, yellow, and orange dishes, as seen on her Instagram page. During my time working as a celebrity style editor, I've had the opportunity to see inside hundreds of famous homes, but Diane's kitchen storage is one of my favorites. It's functional but beautiful enough to belong in a museum.

As we continue to see color-forward trends like dopamine decor dominate interiors, experts agree that now is the time to play with vibrant shades, and what better place to start than with a set of new dishes?

According to designers, colorful ceramics are on the rise, and for good reason: they instantly enliven any space, neutral or otherwise. There are specific colors to look out for this year, however. First up? Coral.

'Lighten up your space with coral hues that bring warmth and brightness to any interior,' says Turkish ceramic artist Esma Dereboy. 'A vibrant shade that can be paired with other bold colors like cobalt blue and sage green to create maximum impact or you can allow the coral to speak for itself by adding it to a neutral interior, allowing it to take center stage. Coral will be a trend to watch in interiors, showing up in living rooms, table décor, and feature paint walls.'

Diane has opted for some blues and greens, so a coral bowl set would fit in perfectly with these existing pieces.

Additionally, primary colors are on the come up, so Diane's bright blues and yellows are right on theme for this trend.

'Without doubt, color affects our mood,' designer Matthew Williamson states. 'It’s such a powerful tool for both fashion and interiors. Color drenching, and the trend for embracing bright and bold hues, taps into our growing desire for emotional impact through design – turning everyday spaces into energising statements.'

Try incorporating bright reds or yellows in your kitchen and displaying them on an open shelf like Diane's for maximum impact.
