Diana Ross reveals inspiration behind her new album is Winnie the Pooh

For a bear of very little brain, Winnie the Pooh has made a huge impact on one global superstar...

Legendary singer Diana Ross reveals the inspiration behind her new album – her first in 15 years – was none other than Christopher Robin’s best friend.

The 77-year-old singer made plans to create new record Thank You during the pandemic, after she decided to read a book by Benjamin Hoff who quotes the A. A. Milne characters, to pass the time.

“Every day I thought about the things that matter to me most,” she says.

“I was reading a children’s book called The Tao of Pooh and Christopher Robin asked Pooh, ‘What is it you like doing most – what do you like doing most in the whole wide world?’.

“So, I took this time as an opportunity to change my perspective.

“I wanted to find the silver lining, and I wanted to give a gift of gratitude to everyone. I paused and decided to record a new album.

“The album is extremely special and dear to my heart. Every word, every thought and every note is important.

“It is really about love and giving thanks. Let love lead the way. All is well. Be still and go with life’s flow.”

New single I Still Believe is out now. And we’ll soon see Diana in her first music video for more than a decade for another track, All is Well.

However, we can’t credit Christopher and Pooh for that.

“My sons gave me the confidence and encouragement to make this video,” says the mum-of-five. “After spending almost two years not performing and not being in front of the camera, they supported me in easing back into being around lots of people.”

Thank You is released on Friday.
