Diana Ross in Durham - star will bring celebrations north after Platinum Party at the Palace and Glastonbury

Music icon Diana Ross will be following up from her upcoming performance in London for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee - and then a slot at Glastonbury - with a show in Durham that promises to wrap up June in style.

Proving that at 78 she can party with the best of them, the iconic songstress will be delivering a busy month of shows that are all about celebration. First, Ross - who was lead singer in sixties group The Supremes; one of the world's best-selling girl groups of all time - will be first adding glitz to the line-up at the Platinum Party at The Palace on June 4.

It was revealed that she will be part of a star-studded line-up including Elton John and Rod Stewart at the Bank Holiday concert to celebrate Her Majesty's 70-year reign. Then on June 26 Ross will be taking to the stage at Glastonbury festival to perform for crowds in the Sunday afternoon Legends slot - before hot-footing it up north.

Ross, who also had a stint in The Temptations, is one of the most successful recording artists of all time. She shot to the fame in The Supremes, with the the chart-toppers producing such hits as You Keep Me Hangin' On, Baby Love and Stop! In the Name of Love, before embarking upon a hugely successful solo career. Solo number ones have included Chain Reaction and I'm Still Waiting.

At the Grammy Awards this year, the singer was honoured with a special gong to mark her 75th birthday and her huge contribution to music. She also received a Lifetime Achievement Grammy in 2012 to mark her successful career, which began when she joined The Primettes at the age of just 15.

The Riverside ground at Durham County Cricket Club will have capacity for 6,000 fans for her concert on June 29. Tickets to the Thank you Summer Tour 2022 date cost £69 (£75.90 with booking fee) and £89 (£97.90 with fee) and there will be unreserved seating. See here.
