Diamonds want to 'smash' New Zealand in Adelaide netball Test

The Diamonds have won the first two Constellation Cup games against New Zealand but are wanting a big victory margin when the two teams clash in Adelaide on Wednesday night.

Australia won 57-54 in Auckland and by eight goals in Christchurch with a game in Sydney on Saturday to follow tonight's game.

Australian midcourter Liz Watson said the Diamonds wanted to dominate their arch-rivals, the Silver Ferns.

"We do want to smash them, I think the games that we've had, we've had wins but not convincing strong wins," Watson said.

The Diamonds are confident after their two recent wins in New Zealand and are more than happy to be back playing in Australia.

"You know Australians love their netball and we do get good crowds to the matches," defender Emily Mannix said.

"It is lovely to be back in Australia and on home ground."

Mannix said the Diamonds were expecting another close game.

"We know that they are going to come out absolutely firing this Test and they won't be happy with the start of the Constellation Cup," she said.

"They will definitely be coming to get a win on the board for them."

Defender Courtney Bruce is one of a number of new faces getting valuable court time.

"I'm still pinching myself … every time Lisa [Alexander] gives me the opportunity, it's really exciting to be out there," she said.

And with the selectors trying new names, those on court know impressive performances will help when it comes to Commonwealth Games selection.

"I haven't played in one before so it would be a dream to play the Commonwealth Games," Watson said.

"I guess that is the ultimate goal."

Tonight's game at Adelaide Arena starts at 7:00pm.
