Diamond ring worth £7,500 stolen in daylight robbery

Police have released CCTV images after a £7,500 diamond ring was stolen in a daylight robbery at a pawnbrokers.

The engagement ring was stolen by a man at H&T Pawnbrokers on Ormskirk Street, St Helens, at around 10.50am on Monday, December 16, when he entered the shop and asked to see two ladies' engagement rings.

When shown the items by a staff member, the man grabbed one of the two rings and fled on foot from the shop.

Officers today released a still image of a man who they believe could hold vital information.

The ring is described as a 1.37ct Accent Solitaire Diamond ring with a value of £7,500.

CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing into the incident.

Detective Constable Chris Clark, of Merseyside Police, said: "This incident will have been a distressing experience for the staff member, and we are determined to find the person responsible and put them before the courts.


“Robbery of businesses will never be tolerated so pass any information and we will take positive action. If you saw or heard anything or have been offered a ring matching this description, let us know.”
