Good evening readers!

Down at Guardian towers, we’ve had that Friday feeling.

That’s partly because after one week on from the launch of the appeal, you have raised an incredible £48,708.89. Thank you.

There is another reason.

It’s almost time for the great Guardian telethon

This is your chance to speak to some of the Guardian’s best known journalists and support mental health charities, all in one phone call.

So if you’d like the opportunity to ask Ewan MacAskill what Edward Snowden is really like, crack a joke with Stuart Heritage or get fashion tips from Jess Cartner-Morley now is your chance.

This man (he's called Stuart Heritage) is pretty happy too, because next weekend he'll be speaking to readers, helping them to donate even more money for mental health.

Call 0203 353 4368 next Saturday, December 13, and speak to Polly Toynbee, Peter Bradshaw, Andrew Sparrow and many other journalists and donate money to the Christmas appeal. More details to follow....

We’re having a competition

Over at Kings Place, we’re joining in and pitting ourselves against each other to see who can raise the most cash for the appeal. There are four floors of staff at London HQ and we’re each floor is competing to see who can raise their game the most – and with it thousands of pounds for mental health.

If you’re enjoying the blog and want to continue the conversation and get inspiration about mental health once the appeal is over, come and join in on our Time to Talk Mental Health Tumblr.

That’s all for now, but there will be plenty to come next week: come back for more stories, statistics and music – and Jonny Benjamin will be answering the questions you sent in. Have a great weekend and don’t forget to look for two more of our appeal charities in the weekend papers.
