Diablo 2's biggest fan, Grim Dawn, gets its final and "largest expansion ever" in July, adding a new region that's almost as big as the base RPG

Over 10 years since its initial release, Grim Dawn is finally set to get its very last expansion, Fangs of Asterkarn, in less than two months, as developer Crate Entertainment sets a release date at long last.

Fangs of Asterkarn was first announced back in 2023 – at which point, Crate thought it'd release the following year – but now, it's officially set to arrive on July 23. It's a big deal, too, as this is set to be the ARPG's final expansion – it's the third one after Ashes of Malmouth and Forgotten Gods, and this one is "our largest expansion ever," according to the devs' latest post on Steam.

"This is a massive expansion by every measure, an unprecedented amount of content for just $18.99 as the world of Grim Dawn grows by over 30%!" Crate says.

As for what you can expect, Fangs of Asterkarn adds a huge new region to the Diablo 2 spiritual successor – to be exact, it "expands the total game world by a staggering 32%, over 80% the size of the base game," and will feature "snowy peaks," as well as "frozen caverns," "ancient forest valleys and breathtaking hot springs" to explore.

Beyond that, you'll also be able to experiment with potions, all boasting different buffs and effects – there are 6,210 combinations to try out, so any prospective alchemists are going to be kept busy. What's more, "two new roguelike dungeons will be introduced with free content updates for the Fangs of Asterkarn expansion." The new Berserker mastery sounds neat, too – it'll let you "become a frenzied force of destruction upon the battlefield capable of shapeshifting into vicious beastlike forms."

Fans aren't just getting Fangs of Asterkarn, though. Grim Dawn is also set to receive a free v1.3 update, adding quality-of-life changes to the base game that include an overhaul to UI, your Stash (that's about to get even bigger), add HDR lighting, and more.

Earlier this year, Crate called Fangs of Asterkarn Grim Dawn's "final hurrah," and looking at the sheer size of it, it looks like the devs have given it everything they had. There's not long to wait for it now, and as we approach that release date, which appears to be a month later than Crate planned, the devs say they're "making every additional day count."

Diablo 4 Season 14 brings controversial Mythic Unique changes and heavy nerfs, but hey, at least Blizzard is finally introducing one long-requested mode.
