Dhurandhar Premieres on Netflix Amid Viewer Complaints About Runtime and Quality

Social Media Reacts to Dhurandhar’s Runtime on Netflix

Shortly after its release, several Netflix viewers took to X (formerly Twitter) to express frustration, claiming that the film appeared “censored.” The runtime listed on the streaming platform showed 3 hours and 25 minutes, nine minutes shorter than the original theatrical cut of 3 hours and 34 minutes.

Complaints also surfaced regarding the film’s colour grading, sound, and video quality on Netflix, with viewers noting differences compared to the cinema experience.

Why the Runtime Is Shorter

The runtime discrepancy stems from updates made to the film following a revised censor certificate. The filmmakers were asked to mute “two words and one dialogue in reference to Baloch,” leading to a slightly shorter version of 3 hours, 28 minutes, and 56 seconds. This revised cut began screening in theatres on January 1, 2026.

Is Netflix Streaming a “Censored” Version?

Despite claims of censorship, the version on Netflix is the updated theatrical release rather than a separate, trimmed cut. Viewers may notice a slightly faster frame rate compared to the original December 5, 2025, release. At the 1-hour-55-minute mark, two references to the Baloch community made by Sanjay Dutt’s SP Chaudhary Aslam are muted. In the original dialogue, Aslam compared his former Baloch police partner to a crocodile, a line now removed in the revised version.

Netflix, as an OTT distributor, streams the film in the exact form provided by its production houses, Jio Studios and B62 Studios. While the dialogue has been updated, the intense depiction of violence remains unchanged.

Fans rewatching the high-octane thriller on OTT can look forward to its sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, set to release on March 19, 2026.
